Intriguing Loft Style Kitchen

Project Description

Filled to the brim with detail & intrigue, this kitchen and living space includes numerous different materials juxtaposed together in a grand stand of long term appeal. The home had previously been remodeled 2 years prior to this project. During that time the builder had left a portion of attic space void with the potential to finish it out in the future. However, he didn’t include any stairs to access the attic. Our mission, should we choose to accept it, would be to create a staircase leading to the attic space, finish the attic, form a proper area for a private home office, a formal dining room and in the process, enlarge & revitalize the kitchen from dark to stark. Every great design & build firm has a way of hiding their fingerprint on the project. The addition of a rich looking coffered ceiling was our way of hiding the support beams needed to support the 2nd floor construction. The ceiling provides the bold contrast needed for this elegantly light colored backdrop of a kitchen. The smooth, warm butcher block peninsula top balances the hard, roughness of the stone beneath it. The busy, full backsplash meets the cool, soft countertops like a wave meeting the shore. The range top blends beautifully with the linear nature of the lower base drawers similar in size & scale. Every detail of this project was given the proper thought and the proper attention. We can confidently say, mission accomplished.
